CIC ORIO Vefour added a second Verlinde Eurobloc VT3 wire rope hoist to an existing overhead crane. The goal was to enable synchronised lifting of long, fragile tubular parts using dual hooks, in line with standard EN 15011, which requires simultaneous end-of-travel stopping and load summation.

CIC ORIO Vefour, a member of the Verlinde service network and Europont in France, upgraded an existing overhead crane with the addition of a second 10-ton Verlinde Eurobloc VT3 wire rope hoist alongside the crane's existing unit of the same model. The work was carried out for a leading designer of high-voltage electrical substations, which needed to handle long, tubular, fragile and high-value components. Given their size and shape, these loads call for lifting via two hooks to guarantee safe, stable handling while keeping operations simple. Relying on two hooks removed the complicated procedures otherwise needed to locate the load's center of gravity.
The key challenge was making sure both hoists could run in perfect synchronization while meeting EN 15011 requirements. This meant the two hoists needed to halt simultaneously at their end-of-travel limits and deliver load summation functionality, allowing for precise, safe and reliable dual-hook lifting. The project also involved logistical hurdles, since an electric crane was already present on site, requiring staggered working hours to ensure the work finished on time.

To achieve synchronized dual-hook lifting, CIC ORIO Vefour added a second 10-ton Verlinde Eurobloc VT3 wire rope hoist to the existing overhead crane. The VT3 was chosen for matching the performance characteristics of the unit already in service, guaranteeing consistent, reliable synchronized lifting.
The upgrade required a number of technical changes. The original mechanical overload limiter gave way to an electronic strain gauge load limiter, and the drive systems were updated so the two hoists could communicate with each other. A precisely adjustable electronic end-of-travel limit switch was also fitted to enable accurate operation and meet EN 15011 requirements. Together, these changes allowed the two hoists to run in synchronization, guaranteeing simultaneous end-of-travel stopping and load summation.

Handling long, tubular, delicate and high-value components both safely and efficiently.
Twin-hook lifting that removes the need to work out complex centre-of-gravity calculations during handling.
Conformity with EN 15011 standards, covering simultaneous end-of-travel stopping and load summation.
Greater lifting safety for delicate loads.
Higher production efficiency thanks to streamlined handling operations.
Simple addition of a second 10-ton Verlinde VT3 hoist to a crane already at work on site.
Dependable performance owing to matching operating characteristics shared by both VT3 hoists.
