Verlinde introduces PT Tri Tunggal Fondasi, its new Indonesian partner

Tri Tunggal Fondasi was founded in 2013 in Jakarta, Indonesia, initially specialising in crane construction before diversifying into mechanical and electrical projects and oil and gas, then expanding further into other crane and hoist sectors. It has grown into a multi-faceted organisation with a highly capable workforce. It now employs 39 people and reached a peak turnover of 2.2 million Euros in 2019, aiming to match that again in 2023. PT TRI TUNGGAL FONDASI has been Verlinde's new partner and representative in Indonesia since 2022.

A conversation with Tri Tunggal Fondasi founder Mr Furniawan Tjia

Tell us a little more about yourself and your business?

My career began in 2005 as a sales engineer in cranes and components. Having consistently hit sales targets and built up a crane market in Balikpapan, I took on a new challenge as regional sales manager in fluid systems, supplying products across multiple industrial fields such as biopharmaceutical, oil and gas, mining and semiconductors. In 2012 KONE Cranes, one of the world's largest crane manufacturers, approached me again to work as regional sales manager, responsible for developing the South-East Asian market.
In 2017 I took over PT. Kharisma Crane, which had been fabricating cranes since 2004, and founded PT. Tri Tunggal Fondasi, specialising in cranes and components. After a difficult first few years, the company grew into a multi-layered organisation with skilled, experienced staff. We began as a contractor focused on material handling with cranes for workshops and production, and today we cover a broad range of projects, including mechanical and electrical work, oil and gas, and many more crane-related projects. We were Yale's authorised distributor in Indonesia from 2018 to 2022.

How did the partnership with Verlinde come together?

Verlinde's export sales team had already pinpointed several countries needing business development efforts, and had been searching for a new partner in Indonesia since early 2022.
Verlinde and PT Tri Tunggal Fondasi held their first discussions in July 2022, and the partnership officially launched in August.

The first order, for 4 VM Essential hoists (2 VM2s and 2 VM3s), was placed in October, and projects have kept building momentum since. Verlinde and PT Tri Tunggal Fondasi are working hand in hand to promote the Verlinde brand.
A project involving two VT4 hoists has just been won against the competition for a paper mill.

What exactly does your business focus on?

PT. Asahimas Glass, PT. Tanjung Enim Lestari (paper mill) and PT Banten Energy (power plant) are among the clients we serve under contract. With 20 technicians, 10 welders and production workers, plus 9 support staff, our team covers every brand active in the Indonesian market.

Could you share a project that showcases our know-how?

The longest span ever fabricated at our factory measures 33 meters with a 25 tons capacity.
It's installed in the Cikampek industrial area, West Java, Indonesia.
Another notable project is a double-girder crane spanning 24 meters with a 60 tons capacity, installed in Batam, Indonesia.

How would you describe your customer strategy?

PT. Tri Tunggal Fondasi's main goal is meeting customers' construction needs through quality work and strong relationships with management teams, reflected in our sales and customer growth. We provide nationwide pre-construction and construction services, job-site and project management, administrative support, and document control.
Indonesia has recovered very well from the Covid-19 crisis, and numerous government-backed crane projects are underway in 2023.

What's your growth strategy for the short term?

Our goals are to deliver after-sales service for all brands, along with maintenance and crane refurbishment. We're also partnering with a main contractor on new crane projects.
